GOBI’s story begins in Mongolia, home to the goats that produce the cashmere fiber used across the brand’s collections. GOBI combines this local material base with manufacturing expertise developed in Ulaanbaatar, where major stages of cashmere production are managed within an integrated system.

This connection between origin, manufacturing and design gives GOBI direct involvement in the journey from raw fiber to finished cashmere clothing.

Founded in Ulaanbaatar in 1981, GOBI has spent more than four decades developing its expertise in Mongolian cashmere. Today, the company’s production system brings together sorting, washing, spinning, weaving, knitting and sewing in Mongolia.

Quality Standards & Certifications

GOBI supports its manufacturing processes with established quality standards and third-party certifications. GOBI cashmere yarns and finished products received OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Certification in 2021, followed by certification for finished garments in 2024. Also has held the SFA Clean Fibre Processing Gold Level Certification since 2021. GOBI also operates an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.

These standards provide shoppers with additional context around material testing, production control and finished-product quality.
